Irutxin

The cave entrance, 3 m wide x 2.5 high, gives way to a steep ramp that leads into a wide gallery that loops all the way round and returns to the same exit point. This first gallery, in its final part, leads to a new ramp and to a second, small entrance. This is the 2nd possible entry to the cavity, through a small hole located to the South of the main entrance and very difficult to locate. It takes a horizontal form 0.5 m in diameter that leads to the upper part of a steep ramp and subsequently joins the aforementioned gallery. The distance between the entrances is approx. 70 m.

A large part of the cave is covered with flowstone which, together with the volume and height of the cave ceilings at specific points (10-15 m), give the setting a singular showiness if the cavity can be visited in the rainy season.

In the left-hand gallery a lake one and a half metres deep forms, and water is also present in the other gallery, where a stream forms that disappears down an impenetrable sinkhole.
