Igue du Bret n°2

The entire cavity has developed in a joint oriented NW-SE. It presents several levels of galleries situated one above the other and connected by shafts and narrowed galleries. Many tree roots are visible. The lower galleries are clayey and present a high CO2 level.

The speleothem formation is not very significant.

The entrance shaft, entirely cleared over 4 metres, intersects a rising meander with a well-marked ceiling channel. At the bottom, a narrowed passage gives access to the upper galleries. At the SE end of the upper gallery, a P6 or a low passage allow access to the lower galleries. Quickly, heading back NW, this gallery cuts the P16 at its middle. At the bottom of the P16, a passage presenting a large ceiling channel descends towards the Salle du Beurre, whose ceiling is furrowed with large ceiling channels. At its lowest point, the Étroiture Charente-Poitou (opened by cutting the clay with a mining bar) leads to a difficult dig, the lowest point of the cavity at -27 metres. A fissure a few centimetres wide continues to descend. A new dig is in progress at the bottom of the P16.
