Morfologia
The cave's route is partly artificial. The cave ends in some small sumps.
Idrologia
The small sumps where the cave ends feed the springs outside the cave.
Progressione
Recently a comprehensive intervention has been carried out, placing pillars that reduce the risk of collapse and positioning gauges in the cracks. At the same time, a lighting and ambient music system has been installed, and the entire space has been sealed to ensure that a humidity of 100% is maintained.
Storia
The caves were discovered in 1941 by chance, while rocks of calcium carbonate were being extracted, intended for the construction of some facilities of the Barcelona zoo.
In 1954 the 23 spouts of the springs that exist today are built and the tourist exploitation of the cave begins; at first it had a single access. In November 2010 it is closed to the public to restore them, since it did not meet the safety conditions required for tourist visits. In July 2016 they reopen to the public again.
David Magdalena (SIE-CEA) on 22-10-2009 carried out a dive there without positive results.
