Caratteristiche

Località

Near the village of Batet (a hamlet of Ribes de Freser) and to the SW of Can Costa. Starting from in front of Can Costa, follow for 130 metres the path that climbs in the direction of Roc Xuriguer. You come to a bend in a tractor track, which must be followed uphill for 195 metres. Here you must leave the track (about 50 metres before reaching another bend) and turn left until you reach the upper part of a small cliff (18 metres from the track). You will descend the drop diagonally by the only practicable passage and find the entrance at the very foot of the wall, half obstructed by a large block.

The cavity is located on private property, which is currently very abandoned, there is a lot of vegetation, very tall, and many brambles.

Descrizione

Morfologia

An entrance 2 by 0.5 metres gives access to a shaft about 9 metres deep that opens above a sloping chamber 12 by 3 metres and about 10 metres high. At the end of the slope we find two narrow galleries at 90º to the chamber. The left one ends soon and the right one becomes a vertical that reaches the level of -21, the maximum depth of the cavity, and then closes up and becomes impenetrable.

The main chamber, after a boulder zone, becomes an ascending gallery. Here, a new gallery cuts the main axis of the cavity at 45º. To the right it continues for about 8 metres, until it is obstructed by an accumulation of boulders, and to the left it descends until it becomes a chamber of 8 x 4 x 7 metres. Beyond, a series of fissures that gradually close mark the end of the cavity.

Storia

Known since olden times by the people of the area, who in former times had used it as a canyet.

Explored and surveyed by members of the GES – CM Terrassa and of the SIS – CE Terrassa in December 1979.
