Cave discovered in 1976 in the Séquanien, famous for its semi-active helictites, closed with A door after damage occurred in 1990.
Descrizione
Morfologia
The opening (0.6 m x 0.6 m) leads to A small step down into A room of modest dimensions. At the bottom of this room, A low passage opens onto A well-decorated gallery, divided by A barrier of speleothems. At the back, A narrow clay slide leads to A muddy squeeze that opens into A room. A short, low gallery leads to the last room, larger than the previous one. Several small tubes clogged with clay are found there.
Concrezioni
The particularity of this cavity is its semi-active helictites, of A rather dull color. Despite this lack of brightness, these speleothems are rare in this area. A rather particular 80-centimeter candle disappeared during the damage.
Progressione
Discovered in 1976, the entrance of this cave required only A few blows of A sledgehammer to let us through. The first exploration led to the discovery of two small rooms. At the back, several possible leads were worked on, but one particularly strange one was blowing: A hole the size of A cigarette in the clay plug of the terminal floor. Work undertaken immediately required several digging trips; we had to climb A clay plug 4 meters deep to finally see A continuation. After A complete cleaning of the dug-out passage, A short first trip revealed two more small rooms. While the first part is quite clean and decorated, the second part, from the squeeze onward, is rather muddy.
Altri dettagli
This cave opens in the Jurassic Séquanien along A fault. For several years we did not speak of this cavity, which holds no particular interest in the eyes of cavers. Regular visits allowed us to keep watch over the state of this cavity, which remained intact until 1990. Then, during A visit, we noticed that speleothems had been broken, including A rather particular 80-centimeter candle that had disappeared, as well as leftover meals strewn on the floor. After A long discussion within our association, we decided with regret to close this small cave with A door. It should be noted that this damage came from youths from the surrounding villages, who ransacked two similar small caves. This is all the more deplorable because in Cournonterral, only this small cave remains where speleothems can be seen. Of course, the key is available to all cavers.
