Descrizione
Morfologia
Cavity in the tufa; its entrance has a low wall and steps.
Concrezioni
In a small chamber, a large stalagmitic formation is lit by a fissure located above the entrance. It is on this formation that the statue must have sat enthroned, but today there is nothing left.
Progressione
Once through the opening, what we discover matches Henseling's description, although it is brief (cf. bibliography).
Storia
The old wooden statue, of indeterminate age, must have delighted a collector, a secondhand dealer, or those who shamelessly plunder heritage when it is not kept in a safe place[ref]Guillaume CHARDIN - CDS83, Fichier des cavités du Var > "Notre Dame de la Baume" (number 1139003): https://www.fichiertopo.fr/display.php?details=1&indexid=1621[/ref].
