Account of the main route through the cave, from the built lower entrance to the S1 sump, 1513 metres from the entrance.
Descrizione
Morfologia
After the developed section, the generally dry gallery continues in dimensions of 5m x 6m. One then traverses immense chaotic galleries. The river measures 5m x 8m. At the junction, a huge boulder slope about 40 metres high rises up; at the top of the chaos and behind a barrier of blocks, one reaches a final chamber at the end of which one descends again by a vast boulder slope to the river about 1 km from the entrance. Approaching the sump, the ceiling drops abruptly. The pool of the S1 is a lake 10 metres long and 3 metres deep.
Concrezioni
After a flow of orange calcite, the ceiling drops abruptly on approaching the sump.
Idrologia
Shortly after a low vault where there are either pools or a lake, one arrives at 440 metres from the entrance at the river, which sinks into a pleasant meander to be followed for a few tens of metres. In the main gallery, one follows the river upstream to a small lake that one crosses on the right to arrive shortly afterwards at the start of the true lakes, which one passes on a traverse. The river (5m x 8m) is followed upstream without difficulty to a splitting of the gallery; on the left, the river flows in a very low gallery.
Progressione
From the built lower entrance, one progresses for about 80 metres under a masonry vault above which lies an impressive succession of built chambers forming the old cheese cellar. At 580 metres from the entrance, one arrives at a pit of about 8 metres that must be rigged. A little further on, a last lake is passed by a traverse rigged with fixed equipment, on the right wall. At 830 metres from the entrance, one arrives at a junction at the foot of a huge boulder slope about 40 metres high; on the left arrives the gallery coming from the grotte du Pas Destrech. At the splitting of the gallery, take the dry passage on the right. To reach the sump, one must climb in the main joint to reach a lake 10 metres long and 3 metres deep forming the pool of the S1 at 1513 metres from the entrance.
