Following the RN 15 works in 1935, only twelve metres of gallery remained, two metres wide, divided into three chambers.

In 1972, around 37 Upper Palaeolithic chalk engravings (Magdalenian and Magdalenian-Azilian) were counted in the Grotte de Gouy:
18 animals, including
- 7 horned animals,
- 7 horses,
- 1 bird (probably a bird of prey),
- 3 indeterminate,
1 possible anthropomorphic figure,
8 vulvas,
1 penniform sign,
1 barbed sign,
1 claviform sign,
7 indeterminate signs,
red lines and spots.
The parietal art of Gouy provides information on the transition from the Magdalenian to the Azilian.
An absolute dating was obtained from the collagen of a bone fragment (on Tandétron, Gif A 92346: 12,050 ± 130 years BP; H. Valladas). Without dating the ornamentation as a whole, it establishes a frequentation of the cavity at that time.
