Caratteristiche

Località

You have to go to the village of Gurp (Tremp), cross the village and before reaching the Raval you will find a large parking area. From here the espluga can already be seen above us. At the end of the parking area there is a house (cal Jep), and from the same door a path sets off in a N direction, passing some vegetable gardens, until reaching a wooden hut; here you have to turn right and continue for about thirty metres. From this point we head for a very marked spur; soon we will see a ramp on the left that will allow us to reach the espluga.

We have classified the corrals from West to East, so this is the tenth corral in an E direction and the easternmost of all. It is at the foot of a cliff on the slope above the last houses of the village of Gurp, on the left slope of the barranc de Gitader, so it is quite separate from the rest of the corrals.

Storia

Known since time immemorial. Initially, before the construction of the village of Gurp, they were very probably used as dwellings, and later they came to be used as corrals. In the 1860 census they already appear cited as corrals. Some of the names of the corrals are known, cova d'en Peixeco, cova d'en Genera or Geneva, cova d'en Muntaner, cova de la Roca, cova d'en Sisco Macià, but we have not been able to identify which corral each of the names corresponds to.

In the case of this espluga, at cal Jep we were informed that the area where it is located is known as the vedat d'en Pascual. While the wall where the espluga is located is known as Roca de les Vedrines.
