CP53

The CP53 starts with a pit 5 m deep and 3 to 4 m in diameter, easily descended by climbing. A small continuation, into which the water falls, is quickly blocked by debris towards –10 m. At around –5 m begins a small muddy and uninviting crawlway. After about ten narrow metres, this crawlway emerges, through a constriction, at the top of a meander. Progress in the meander (0.5 m wide and 5 m high) is fairly easy. About thirty metres further on, a dogleg (a right turn then a left) marks a narrower zone.

The cavity serves as a sink for a small surface stream. At the bottom of the meander, the previously lost stream is found again.

Shortly after the dogleg, we emerge by a small climb into the CP6 about fifteen metres from the entrance. During the exploration of the CP6, this upward continuation had not been detected, the inflow of water below having been judged, rightly, impenetrable.
