Caratteristiche

Località

At Port (Baix Ebre). From Cova Cambra, on the Mola de Catí, one must head S and pass the head of the barranc or canal de la Galiassa (according to some maps: Saliassa). The plateau of the Mola ends in a boulder field aligned from NE to SW, which forms a cliff. One must continue in a SW direction until reaching the point where the S slope can be accessed and, at the foot of the cliff, go up along it. The first cavity encountered is the Cova del Pas del Roquer de la Galiassa and, continuing along the base of the cliff, one finds cave no. 1. Approximate coordinates.

Descrizione

Morfologia

Through a wide entrance porch one enters a gallery that preserves its dimensions and a height of about 8 metres. The floor is affected by a localized clastic process but with large-sized elements. In the ceiling of the gallery there is an upper conduit a few metres long.

About 20 metres from the entrance the ceiling of the gallery suddenly lowers and becomes a narrower conduit, slightly descending and with a very low ceiling, which ends filled with sediments about 15 metres from its start. Shortly before this final point, on the right, one can access a chimney that remains closed 8 metres further up.

Storia

Although they were certainly cavities known to the shepherds of the area, the first speleological reference is given by members of SIRE – UEC Tortosa (later Espeleo Club Tortosa) who explored them between August and September 1978.
