Località

The cavity is located at the NE end of the Mola de Perelló (or del Capcir), in Tivissa, la Ribera d'Ebre. Its location is somewhat complicated. Access can be gained by going up the barranc del Solà del Migdia (Avenc de l'Espadella) to reach the summit of the mola and from there moving towards the NE slope at the foot of the cliff. There are other itineraries for accessing the Mola.

Descrizione

Morfologia

The cavity has two entrances: one located to the N, which opens about 3 metres below the cliff; the other faces SE and is found in the upper part of the gully that rises from the barranc de Montalt. The floor has slight undulations.

Progressione

Entering through the entrance that faces SE, one reaches a vestibule at the back of which are two narrow passages that lead to a wide chamber in which the light from the other opening can already be seen.

Storia

First explored in 1929 by Manuel Mata, of Reus, who found the first archaeological remains. In 1940, S. Vilaseca described it and mentioned the materials found in the excavations of that time.
