Descrizione

Morfologia

The mouth of the cavity is occupied by a dry-stone wall that leaves a small space of one metre on the right-hand side to get in, crossed by a rustic bed base. The size of the entrance porch is 5 m long by 2 m high, giving access to a small room 4 m long by 3 m wide and about 1.7 m high; at the back a narrow gallery opens up, 8 m long by 80 cm wide and 70 cm high. The cavity has a total length of 12 m.

Storia

The Cova dels Debanadors was occupied by one of the charcoal-burner crews who worked around the Puig de la Balma until the 50s. In its day the interior was occupied by bunks because it was only used for sleeping. As a dining room they had prepared a small flat area situated below the cavity.

The woodcutters sometimes received a visit from a group of hunters who used a pool in the nearby torrent to attract animals. They were the Valentí Rossinyol, known as the Tinet, and the Florenci and the Pep Alavedra (from Mura).

The bunks remained in the cave until the mid-80s, when the Norbert Cònsul removed them and put a large table inside, along with other utensils. One of the bed bases was used as a grille for the door. The current fittings of the cavity are those the Norbert brought, who spent many Sundays there for a few years.

As it was a resting place for the charcoal burners and the historic hikers, the location of the cavity was not disclosed in any of the maps or publications of Sant Llorenç del Munt i l'Obac.

Even now a certain discretion is maintained about its location. But some small groups go there for big breakfasts and are already putting waymarks on the access paths.
