Caratteristiche

Località

Take the path that from the bassa de la Mata descends toward the collet de la Sabatera, skirting the turó del Muronell on its west side; you first cross a charcoal kiln and reach a junction (nearby is the Avenc Local) where you will go down to the left, following the Muronell ridge downhill for about 10 minutes until you reach some hidden cliffs on the N side; a small cairn of stones will point you toward the cave about twenty metres to your left.

Descrizione

Morfologia

A beautiful spot that, in the form of a cave, adorns the long Muronell de la Mata ridge; the large cavern approaches the torrent de la Font Freda with an opening 4 metres high by 2 wide, fitted with a carefully worked dry-stone wall, which serves to level the floor of the cave. Access, however, is through a smaller side entrance, one metre wide and exactly two metres high. The interior of the cavity, with a width of 3 metres and a length of 8, appears quite majestic to us, and light is lacking nowhere; a raised opening on the east side, half covered with a dry-stone wall, lets the light in through a 2 x 1.5 metre window. The four metres of height of the chamber allow us a perspective, from inside the cave, that is quite enchanting.

Storia

Known forever by hikers and local people. It remained unpublished speleologically until it was surveyed in 1992 by members of the SIS del CE Terrassa.
