Caratteristiche

Località

Starting from the Alzina del Sal·lari we will go up along the camí dels Graons de Mura and once we have reached the tracks we will come to the Sot dels Graons, at the walls known by the name of Penitents. As in the case of the cova del Joan Petit, we will leave the thread of the torrent on our left and go in search of the tip of the cliff of this other slope. Before reaching the tip, the cova del Joan Gran is within a strip of gully covered with boxwoods, a few metres above a wall of not very pronounced rocater.

Descrizione

Morfologia

The entrance 1.5 metres high and 0.9 wide indicate a well-defined mouth which, nevertheless, the retreat of the cliff has dismantled almost completely, leaving barely two metres of gallery that, becoming impenetrable, stretches a further two metres. On our left the remains of a small orthogonal gallery can still be seen, with the wall covered by stalagmitic flow.

Storia

Located on 3 April 2005 by members of the SIS del CE Terrassa. The mouth promises more than the interior, which is soon seen. They named it thus in honour of the defunct speleological group TALPS, who named the neighbouring cova del Joan Petit.

Note biospeleologiche

If we go by the numerous gnawed pine cones found inside, it can be assured that the gallery is widely used by squirrels to have their meals, far from competitors.
