Caratteristiche

Località

From Riells del Fai we will follow the carrer de Vallderrós to the bridge that crosses the torrent de Llòbrega; once crossed, we will continue to the right along a track to the village water tank. Follow the path that leaves from the water tank. Always uphill. The second turning on the left. A little further up, a new turning on the left to go to the Barbot Petit and the Cova de Vallderrós. To reach the latter, a few metres before the Barbot Petit you must go down, helped by a fixed plastic rope, and then climb a little back up to the rock shelter.

To go to the Barbot Negre you must go back to the last turning you took on the left and continue up the path towards the dark-coloured travertines that lie above the path.

Descrizione

Morfologia

The cavity has two entrances; access is through the larger one, 10 metres high by 6 metres wide. We find a gallery on the left and go down to a plunge pool one metre deep. The length of the cave is 18.6 metres.

Concrezioni

This is the most concretion-covered and most active part of the cavity, pouring the surplus water out through the lower mouth. The exterior formations are dark and visible from afar.

Storia

Known since time immemorial. Always located in the torrent de Bertí; according to the ICGC it would be the torrent del Traver.

We update the record (January 2017) since it has been detected that in the work of Collado and Sandoval (2000) there is a confusion regarding the name of the cavities listed. What they call Barbot Negre is in fact the Cova de Vallderrós and vice versa.
