Caratteristiche

Località

From km 5.5 of the road from Monistrol to the Monastery and at the level of the Monistrol football pitch, the so-called drecera de l'Agrella begins, with a steep slope. One reaches a track (Camí de les Canals) which must be followed to the left until finding a turn-off to the right that leads to the firefighting pond of the ADF de Monistrol. From here and along a half-hidden path one can continue climbing by the aforementioned drecera. Very soon and below the path one can see a fig tree in the very middle of some abandoned orchards and in a hollow at the foot of a bank is the mouth of the Font del Catalino and the small cave inside it.

Descrizione

Morfologia

The mouth had been covered by an old brick wall and a broken-down small door through which one enters the cave. Just inside there is a small square basin full of water. The gallery that follows the mouth has on the left a dry-stone wall and goes in along 12 m of length through a slightly ascending conduit until it becomes impenetrable at the point where the watercourse appears.

Idrologia

The small square basin is full of water, which is led outside by a black rubber tube that feeds the firefighting pond of the ADF de Monistrol. The gallery is traversed by a small watercourse until it becomes impenetrable at the point where the watercourse appears.

Progressione

Storia

Located and partially visited in June 2021 by David Hernández during the search for a lime kiln in the area of Coll Cabiró. At the end of the same month of June, and accompanied by members of the SIS – CET, they explore it fully and survey it. Despite having remained unpublished in speleological catalogues, the cavity had been known and used for a long time.
