Località

Located in el Bruc. From carrer de les Escoles, cross the torrent de l'Illa and go up to carrer de la Parròquia. Here, turn left and continue straight, ignoring the turnoffs to the right and left. After 1200 metres, leave the car in a small esplanade beside an olive grove. Follow the track on the right and after about a hundred metres turn right onto a path that leads across the torrent dels Pallers. The path continues uphill to the coll del Xincarró and then descends again towards the torrent del Tambor. Shortly before reaching the torrent bed, the roca del Castell (the largest one) comes into view, and a few metres further up, the roca de la Cova del Tambor.

Descrizione

Morfologia

Rock shelter about 80 metres wide, 20 metres high and 14 metres deep. The difference in level between the S end (lowest point) and the N end is 12 metres. At the S end, large blocks predominate and a good part of its surface is covered by vegetation.

Progressione

Follow the torrent upstream, passing the font del Xebret (usually dry), and shortly afterwards the path climbs to the right in a few zigzags until it leads to the cova de l'Arcada.

Storia

Known since time immemorial and mentioned in all the hiking guides to Montserrat.
