Bauma de la Riteta

Known since ancient times.

In 1809 two families from Folgueroles took refuge there, fleeing from the French. On arriving at the rock shelter they realised they had left the salt behind. On the way back to the rock shelter, loaded with the salt, they came across French soldiers who murdered them by suffocating them with the salt they were carrying.

In the mid-20th century the rock shelter was inhabited again, in this case by la Riteta and her family, who were beggars and asked for alms at the houses of the area.
