Aven des Pèbres

The Aven begins in a small cliff with a low, well-worn corridor, opening at the top of the P 31 (in reality, a succession of small inclined steps).

The large chamber is merely a vast corridor plunging from -55 m to -88 m, which is the lowest point of the Aven. This chamber is remarkable for its volume.

The upper network includes a room of fine dimensions, with a V-shaped cross-section, then becomes chaotic (ascending and descending through blocks).

The large chamber is remarkable for the presence of large stalagmitic pillars and powerful flows.

The upper network ends with a final room where there is heavy concretion at the northern end.

From the descended shaft, climb back up a flow. After a squeeze, pass a 7-metre step. At the bottom of this, the large chamber is reached via a series of small rooms and low passages. To reach the lowest point, a 5-metre step must be descended.

Starting from the large chamber, a 12-metre climb leads to a balcony overlooking the chamber. From there, 2 possibilities present themselves: either continue climbing an ascending network (rope necessary), a succession of small concretion-covered rooms that brings one back to the zero level; or descend a small step, climb a few metres, pass a ledge overhanging the chamber. One is then at the start of an important upper network that begins with a scree slope. A room follows a 6-metre climb. On the return, the ledge can be avoided by a direct descent into the chamber (be wary in the Aven of fixed equipment, sometimes in place for a long time and heavily used).
