AN-8

The entrance of the cavity is small and vertical. A series of pits of 17, 45, 10, 12, 8, 17, 30, 19 and 6 leads to a 120 m shaft. The Acheron chamber measures 200x60x80 metres.

The dye tracing carried out in 1994 demonstrated the connection between the M-413, the AN-8 and the Lákora de Arrestelia river.

The 120 m shaft gives access at the same time, at -300 m depth, to a dry gallery with various shafts whose bottoms lie between 350 m and 400 m, which follows the Vasco-Occitano river to the sump at -500 metres, and to the chaos preceding the Damocles Chamber at -600 metres, to continue along a comfortable gallery (Vivac), near the -700 metres waterfall, entrance to the Acheron chamber, which leads to an 80 metre pit, and the bottom at a sump at -801 metres. The projection of the entrance gallery continues in higher hanging levels which are being examined.

The cavity was discovered in 1982 by Amalgama, reaching -400 metres of depth, which gave way to different exploration works by other groups such as Inter club Alpina de Millau in 1991 and later GAEs de Bilbao and SC MJC de Rodez, and cave-diving works in the terminal sump at -801 metres. In the year 2003 the AN-9 pit joins or branches off from the AN-8 after overcoming the Phou Dinge boulder chaos, giving way to the Prébende Chamber. GAES-BILBAO; SG. MJC DE RODEZ; ALPINA DE MILLAU.
