Morfologia
This very vast deposit extends over nearly 200 m in length. The site is one of the largest in the Vézère valley. Recent excavations have yielded lithic material as far as the banks of the Vézère, revealing a habitation area extending over more than 1,000 square meters, from the shelter to the river.
Altri dettagli
The excavations have uncovered numerous bone and flint tools. The archaeological levels reveal a very abundant lithic tool assemblage, an elaborate bone industry, as well as portable art objects or engraved blocks, mainly in the upper layer.
Storia
The shelter has yielded traces of occupation from the Gravettian, the Solutrean and the Magdalenian, a period spanning between 24,000 and 15,000 years BP.
